Jayamangala Krishnamani

Jayamangala is a singer, mridangam artist, thillana composer and choreographer. An MA (Music) in First Class from Madras University, “B High” grade artist of All India Radio in Vocal as a well as mridangam, she has performed very extensively in Madras and all over India, USA and Japan. Initially a student of her parents in vocal music - Palghat S. Krishamurthi and Indira Krishnamurthy, and her grandmother Mrs Rajalakshmi Krishnan, she is currently taking advanced training under Prof TR Subramanyam. Initially a student of Mr. Arul “A” grade artist on All India Radio in mridangam, she is currently enhancing her training under mridangam maestro Mannargui Easwaran. Among the various awards won by her are: First prize in vocal music in Music Academy in Dec 1999 under “the spirit of youth” program, first prize in Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, for the junior vocalists in 1999, “Yuva kala Bharathi” from Bharath Kalachar in 2000, first prize in Indian Fine Arts Society in Dec 2000 in the junior vocal music category, “Tampoora” prize for rendering ragam in VDS Arts Nugambakkam in Dec 2000 and Prof. Mahalingam Endowment prize in Narada Gana Sabha in 2002 - all from Madras and CHEMBAI award for young vocal artists from Government of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram in 2001
