M.S. Sheela

M.S. Sheela is a Carnatic classical vocalist and is a Top Rank artist of AIR and Doordarshan, Disciple of Sangeetha Kalanidhi R.K. Srikantan. Sheela is a Post Graduate in Music from Bangalore University and is a Gold Medalist. She is also a Top Rank artist in Light Music.

Sheela has been regularly giving concerts all over India and also in Radio Sangeeth Sammelan and National Programmes. She has given number of performances in USA, Canada, the Middle East and London.

Madras Music Academy, during 1997, judged Sheela as an "Outstanding Senior Female Vocalist", Karnataka state has honored Sheela by giving her the "Rajyotsava Award", Karnataka State Film Chambers has given an award to Sheela as, "Best Female Play Back Singer" for the year '97-'98. During the Annual Music festival of Karnataka Ganakala Parishat for the year 2000, Sheela was judged as best Musician of the Conference and was awarded the "Ananya Puraskar", an Award Instituted by Ananya GML Cultural Academy Bangalore. Sheela was declared as the "Asthana Vidushi" of Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamsthanam Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri.

Sheela has been honored and given titles by various Sabhas such as, Ganakala Shree, Sumadhura Sangeetha Dhruvatare, Guru Gaurava Karini, Sangeetha Raga Amrithavarshini, Sangeetha Gana Kalanidhi, Sangeetha Sahyadri Shikarini, and others. 

Sheela has a number of cassettes and discs to her credit: Lalitha Sahasranama, Sri Sharada Suprabhata, Lalitha Thrishati, Gana Susheelam, Aadisidalu Yeshodha, Palinchu Kamakshi, Haridasa Namana, Sri Venkateshwara Suprabhata both in Sanskrit and in Kannada, Lakshmi Sahasranama, Himadrisute Pahimam, Soundharya Lahari, Shivananda Lahari, and Vachanamrutha-to name a few.
