Vinay Mallikaarjun has been learning Carnatic Vocal Music from Guru Smt. Usha Char for 8 years. He is a regular participant at the annual Nadatarangini Thyagaraja Festival at SSVT. Vinay has also learned Tabla for the past 8 years under various Gurus and has participated in many Jugalbandi and Layalahari concerts. In addition, he is learning Mridangam from Guru Sri Srinath Balasubramaniam. Vinay is currently a senior at Thomas S. Wootton High School. He is a member of the Thomas S. Wootton Honors Chambers Chorus, and has participated in various Western Classical Vocal competitions with this group.This fall, Vinay will be attending the University of Maryland - College Park, as a member of their prestigious College Park Scholars Program, with a double major in Biology and Secondary Education. |
