BRIEF BIODATA OF CHANDRIKA RAMANNA

R. Chandrika, is a well known Carnatic vocalist in Karnataka. Her class in melody and clarity in Sahithya will give one some idea of her singing. She learned music from Vidushi Nagamani Srinath and Vetern Vidwan R. K. Srikantan, both well known personalities globally in Carnatic music.

Chandrika is a rank holder in vidwat exam conducted by Karnatak State Secondary Education Board. She has many audio and CDs to her credit released by well known organizations. She has won both Central and State Government Scholarships for learning Carnatic music, at a very young age.

Chandrika started giving concerts at the age of 15. Since then there is no looking back and she has been performing for many reputed organizations all over India. She has traveled abroad in giving concerts. This is her first visit to the United States, accompanying her own Guru, Nagamani Srinath.

Her concerts have been broadcast under South Zone hook up program by All India Radio and also by Door Darshan.

Chandrika has many headlines to remember to her credit published by Hindu, Deccan Herald and Indian Express, some by well known critics, worthy of mention.

Her singing Easy Style, Clarity in Sahitya, coupled with scintillating melody in her voice and her proven ability have given her recognition both in India and abroad.

Chandrika is a Double Graduate, working as a Staff Artist in All India Radio. She is a “A” graded artist in AIR and Door Darshan.

Happily married to D.S. Umesh, she is deeply indebted to him, to her Parents, Mother-in-Law and Gurus for their unstinted support and continued cooperation she has received received in her efforts to achieve the honors.
